Monday was Veterans Day, and I hope all of our veterans had a wonderful day and will have a blessed year!
Deborah McCool said she and Tommy got out Saturday afternoon after Tommy came home from work. They picked up Alice Kellum, Tommy’s sister, and went to Leland to visit their two other sisters.
On Sunday afternoon, they went down to the home of their mom and dad (the late Ray and Opal Bell) doing some more things around there. Seems like this young couple works all the time.
The doctor made the decision Sunday morning to move Nancy Chambers to ICU. Nancy is at the Oxford hospital. Thank you for all the prayers for Nancy.
“The more I try to do the less I achieve these days,” said Martha Box, who said she is “still Happy, healthy, wealthy and wise because He lives! He sees me through.”
Martha said she has really enjoyed the fall colors and riding about town watching the leaves fall! She recently had a good lunch with Candy at the Corner Store. Her sister Joyce and she enjoyed lunch at the Catfish Hut Sunday, where they enjoyed good fried catfish and hushpuppies.
Martha’s baby girl, Ginger Harrison, has been working with physical therapy on her knee pain, and distress possibly caused by the workout.
She said her cowgirl Texas sister Patty lost her daughter, Kim, and asked Jesus to love and comfort.
Prayers are offered for Sis. Sherry Darby. Even though she is in the hospital, she was still in the service Sunday morning, sending messages through Bro. Dave Box, said Martha. “And what a great message he shared! I walked out feeling stronger than I walked in,” Martha added.
Daughter Donna spent a few days in Covington, Georgia, with her daughter, Miranda Procella and Summer. They had a great time shopping in some quaint little places. To rub it in, they sent pictures of them shopping.
Haven Rose Dukes and Jo Pullen, sweet little cousins, looked so sweet all dressed for the Veterans Day program at school Monday morning.
Happy birthday to Mary Ann Odom on the 10th, Mali Jarrell on the 13th, Marie Rowland and Samantha Irwin Dees on the 14th, Charlie Brook Bowman on the 15th, and my sweet brother-in-law Tommy Hudson and Diane Horne on the 17th. May you all have a blessed day.
If you have news or you want your birthday acknowledged, please send me a message or text before 11 a.m. on Monday.
Recipe for the week: “Pineapple Christmas Balls”
1 (8-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut (plus extra for rolling)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (if you like)
Drain the crushed pineapple thoroughly.
In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar until smooth and well combined.
Stir in the well drained pineapple, shredded coconut and vanilla extract. If you'd like to add some nuts, mix them in at this stage as well. Once the mixture is well combined, use your hands or a spoon to shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Roll each ball in the extra shredded coconut to coat them completely.
Place the balls on a tray lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until firm. Serve chilled and enjoy!
Thought for the day: When life shuts a door, open it again. That’s how a door works.
