Just found out that Presley McMillian got picked for the 2022 MQHA/4-H Dixie National Quarter Horse Show Shadow Program. She is so excited. This is Presley’s last year of 4-H, so she is trying to do everything she can. This is a program where she gets to work with the folks who put on the Dixie National Quarter Horse Show. Her mother, Stephanie McMillian, said this will help her in the future showing her Himala.
Visiting Wanda Crawford Sunday afternoon was her daughter Candice and husband, Haydn Wiseman, of Tennessee.
John Dukes and Bryan Hollis attended the funeral for Mr. J.W. Cosby Thursday, Jan. 27.
Bubba Dukes and Waylon Dukes attended the funeral of Lee Bolton in Batesville Saturday, Jan. 29.
Tommy and Deborah McCool along with Tommy’s sister, Alice Kellum, went to Leland and Greenville Sunday to put flowers and wreaths on their family’s graves. They visited another sister of Tommy’s in Leland and had a wonderful time together.
Love and sympathy to the Lee Vining family of Coffeeville. Lee passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Barbarella-Gina Vining; three sons, Robbie Wayne Kendall, Jr. (Tasha) of Coffeeville, Steven Jacob Kendall (Angel) of Coffeeville and Nathaniel Kendall (Kristy) of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren; and a nephew, Josh Vining (Alana) of Coffeeville.
J.R Dukes and Bryan Hollis went fishing at Sardis Lake Sunday afternoon. I haven’t heard if they caught any fish yet but, I know they had a good time trying.
Shelia Jackson and Debbie Hayles went to Batesville Saturday and they also visited with Robbie Griffin in Teasdale.
Sunday was a good day for Jessie Williams. Jessie had gotten new blinds for her living room at Christmas and her two daughters from Grenada, Julia Kerr and Sandra McCulla, as well as son Bubba Williams and wife Sheila of Scobey, came and hung them for her. And they brought chicken! Sweet children taking care of momma!
Eugene Bailey is feeling better. Peggy said he was able to get out and drive a little now. That would make me feel better, too! Let’s go coon hunting, Eugene, before we get too old or the dogs die on us. Peggy says she is going to have Erik’s belated birthday party, Sunday, Feb. 6.
Happy birthday on the 4th to a sweet Tillatoba native, Romana (Mona) Pryor Beardain of Batesville. Mona is 39 and holding and I will say she is holding very well! Beautiful lady inside and out! Wayne Simmons celebrates on the 6th; Wanda Crawford, Jeff Staten and Jonathan Dees share a birthday on the 7th; Noey Dees on the 8th; and Willie Beardain on the 9th. I pray you all have a wonderful day celebrating your special day.

Recipe for the week: “Cookie Nuggets”
1/2 cup butter softened
1/2 cup margarine softened
1/2 cup sifted confectioners sugar
1 Tbs. vanilla and 1 Tbs. almond extract
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
In a mixing bowl, cream margarine, butter and sugar. Blend in vanilla and almond extracts. Gradually add flour and salt. Stir in nuts. Shape into 1-1/4 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten slightly with fingers. Bake at 325 for 25 minutes or until the bottoms are slightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. When cooled, sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
