It’s with a sad heart that I tell you Joe McCullar passed away Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 30, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in northern Arkansas Sunday morning. Joe lived at Oakland when he was younger and his family moved to Arkansas. Joe was the son of the late Garner Junior McCullar.
Did you see the beautiful moon Wednesday night, Aug. 30? Several shared the photos that they had taken on Facebook and they were beautiful. My daughter called and said, “Momma, go out and look at the moon tonight, it is beautiful.” I did and it was. God amazes me with all his beauty, day and night.
Congratulations to Mary Sue and Austin Cook on the arrival of a beautiful baby girl, Julia Claire, born early Thursday morning, Aug. 31. Parental great-grandparents are Sheridan and Bobby Cook.
Please pray for Larry and Connie Cockerel. They both have COVID. Connie is in the hospital with pneumonia and is on oxygen.
Martha Box says her busy body was running about a bit last week. “Thank Heavens and Our Lord for keeping me up and at ’em,” she said. “All that I am is because He has something else for me to do.”
Martha said her “sweethearts” at the Toyota place got her car “grooving just right” after she fed “those babes” well with homemade vanilla wafer cake on the first day and homemade sausage cheese biscuits the next. Martha, you spoiled those boys.
Martha is still requesting prayers for cousin Geri Gail and her sweet family, and her sis-in-law, Jodi Wortham. His will be done!
“Wish I could say I have house ready for fall but have not got there yet,” noted Martha. “Just so ready for a cooler pretty time.” I’m hoping I can too, Martha.
Sadie Harper says her husband, Milton, has a spot on his neck that came back cancer. He’s going for surgery Sept. 21 to have that cut out. Milton’s mother had skin cancer. Prayers going up for you, Milton.
Tim Sullivan says, “Thank you Lila Myrick for the strawberry cake, my favorite!” Tim had done some work for Garry and Lila and she made him a cake. I’ll have to sneak a piece!
Tommy McCool is getting better. Still off on doctor orders, but better. Debbie McCool said her brother, Ronnie, was there visiting with their daddy (Ray Bell) for a while. Debbie said Ronnie cooks really well, so maybe he can fatten their daddy up a little bit. I’m sure Ray is enjoying Ronnie being there.
Belated happy birthday to James Aldy on Aug. 31! Happy birthday to Nick Knowles on the 7th; Nancy Kirk and Emily Donovan, who share a birthday on the 8th; David Robinson and Melissa McLendon, who share a birthday on the 9th; and Jimmy Dukes on the 10th. Happy anniversary to Tommy and Debra McCool, who celebrate another anniversary on the 11th. May you all have a blessed day.

Recipe for the week: Strawberry Delight
One small carton of cottage cheese, one can fruit cocktail, one package strawberry Jell-O
Drain cocktail and mix cottage cheese in with the fruit cocktail. Sprinkle 1/2 package of Jell-O and stir. Chill out.
