Valentine’s Day was Wednesday, and I hope it was a sweet day for you with a box of candy, flowers or just a sweet card.
The ones attending had so much fun at the Tillatoba Baptist Church Valentine’s Day banquet! It was an evening full of good food and good friends. Jill Elliott McLendon did a wonderful job organizing it and several helped her with the food and decorations. I’m afraid if I tried to name them all, I would leave someone out.
Congratulations to Breanna and Josh Sturgis on their beautiful li’l baby girl, Ann Ella Sturgis, born Feb. 9. She weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 21 inches long. Welcoming baby Ann Ella is big sister Ava Greer.
Martha Box says she was busy but got nothing done this past week. She rested up a lot, but she and her sister, Joyce, went to Oxford to get Martha’s ear looked at. They had a good time doing some shopping and had a great lunch.
Martha said grandson Josh and the “In Debt” band stirred up the crowd Saturday night. Those young’uns sure could pick and sing. Martha said she about wore out her dancing shoes. She enjoyed Ginger, Phil and Marnie being there, too.
Martha said Sunday church services at Willow Springs were wonderful. She said Bro. Tommy sure encouraged them as Christians to work and pray to lead everyone to Christ's Salvation, and the music so moved the soul! Martha said lunch at the Hut with Joyce was great, and she then came home to nap but was awakened by her granddaughter, Rissa, rebuilding her broken shelf. Martha said Rissa is so much like she used to be, and can fix anything!
Deborah McCool said not much is going on with them. Says she feels better, still coughing but not so bad. She said it was great to feel well enough to go to church Sunday and to go inside instead of staying in the car. She and Tommy went to Batesville Sunday morning and had breakfast before going to church.
I got the cutest FaceTime Saturday night from my grandson, Bradley Holliday. He was in New Orleans at the Family Time Mardi Gras. He was showing me all the beads and stuffed animals he had gotten and I promise you his neck was loaded down as well as his bed! They made it back home in time for the Super Bowl game and his team, the Chiefs, won. He FaceTimed me again after the game and he had a big ole grin on his face! I would say he had a great weekend.
Happy anniversary to Roy and Sherry Anderson Feb. 17. I think it’s their 11th. Steel is the traditional gift for the 11th anniversary, Roy, so, you better come up with something good! Just don’t get her anything she can cook with or clean house with!
Happy birthday to little Sawyer Grace Bowman and to my great-great nephew, Chris Davis, on the 12th; Rose Brown and Billy Brassel on the 15th; Agnes Lane Parfilio on the 16th; Peggy Bailey, Doris Hoop, PJ Dukes and Ellen Parker, who celebrate the 17th; Ben Box, the 18th; May Ellen Marlow and Joy Tippett on the 19th; Morgan Eskridge and Daryl Burney on the 20th; and Johnny Tillman, Bubba Tillman and Ping Ping Paris, who share a birthday the 21st. I pray you all have a wonderful day celebrating your birthdays.
Your writer was to go the 14th for a nuclear stress test and another test. Please pray that they can find out what’s going on with my AFib and why I’m having these spells that I’m having. Thank you in advance.
Recipe for the week: Butter Sticks
1 stick butter
2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup cold water
Heat oven to 450°. Melt the butter in a 13x9x2“ baking pan. Stir together the Bisquick and cold water with a fork in a bowl to form a soft dough. Gently smooth dough into a ball on floured board. Knead five times. Roll dough into rectangle 10”x6“ with floured rolling pin. Cut lengthwise in half. Cut each half crosswise into 12 equal strips 3 inches long and about 3/4 inches wide. Dip each strip into melted butter in the baking pan. Be sure both sides of strips are coated with butter. Arrange strips in pan. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 24 sticks.
Thought for the day: We can only learn to love by loving.
