I always thought when the daffodils started blooming that it would soon be springtime. Well, they have been blooming for a while now but, dang’it, it’s been plum cold!
I talked to Mark Hartley the other day and he asked if I had been down by the old Grady Kyle place to see the hill covered in daffodils. I did see a few not too long ago but haven’t been down that way lately. I promise I will go soon, Mark.
Daisy Isbell had a knee replacement two weeks ago. She is going to physical therapy in Grenada and it is doing well.
Last weekend, Tommy and Debbie McCool went to breakfast at Huddle House in Batesville and then they went on up to Horn Lake and spent the day doing a little shopping and a lot of looking. On their way home, they stopped in Hernando and ate at Arby’s.
Diane Dukes, Terri Pullen, Sam, Anna and lil Joanna Pullen went to Huddle House in Batesville after church Sunday and had lunch, then later that afternoon they went to Grenada. Diane said she saw a friend that she hadn't seem in a while and loved talking to them.
My daughter and granddaughter, Donna Garripoli and Frankie Holliday of Grenada, came Friday and we went to the visitation for Margaret Ann Tillman, who was married to my late first cousin, John Tillman. I saw so many cousins there that I had not seen in a few years. Too many to name but was happy to see every one of them. I just wish it had been under different circumstances. I did visit with the Sturdivant boys, Harvey, Buddy and Bob, and with Phillip Tillman of Burlington, N.C., and meet his daughter; I think her name is Tamyra.
Christian love and sympathy to the Sherry Hill family. What a testimony Sherry was to all who had met her and to some who only knew her from Facebook and her news articles. She wasn’t afraid to let you know about her love for her Lord and Savior. She basked in the love for her family and loved talking about them. May you all feel the love and comfort from knowing she is right where she wants to be if she can’t be here with the loves of her life.
Martha Box said she stayed in and reminisced this weekend. She had posted pictures of her “Honey,” Benny Box, aka “Mail Box,” on Facebook with other truckers and got me getting one of my truckers’ albums out and reminiscing. The late Lee Griffis told me one time that all of my truckers’ pictures would be worth a million dollars to me one day and I believe they are. They (the truckers) got me through some tough times and I am thankful for every one of them. A great bunch of people!
Please pray for the people of Ukraine and Russia. Pray for America as well! Until we put the true King on the throne, evil will abound. We do know who wins in the end.
Happy birthday to twins, Drew Tillman and Beth Tillman Deloach, David Toney and Stephanie McMillian on the 5th; to my niece, Angie Beardain, on the 8th; and Callie Hoop and Larry Cockerel, who share a birthday on the 9th. I hope all of you have a great day celebrating your special day.
Recipe for the week: “Chicken and Spaghetti”
Cook one-half package of spaghetti in salt water. Drain and rinse. Marinate overnight in the refrigerator with one-half cup of French dressing. Boil three or four chicken breasts until tender and cut into bite-sized pieces. Sauté in salt and butter one small can of mushrooms. Mix the three ingredients together using just enough mayonnaise to make it stick together. Serve cold.
Thought for the day: Some people get lost in thought because it’s unfamiliar territory.
