Joyce Courtney had a wonderful birthday party Sunday. She shared it with her great-granddaughter, who was born on her birthday. Joyce celebrated her 83rd and Hadley Bardo celebrated her 4th. Joyce had five generations there Sunday. She also had her daughter, Vickie, and her husband, Ricky Camp, and her oldest grandson down to the youngest great-grandson, who is 6 weeks old. They enjoyed fresh-cooked hamburgers and hot dogs. Afterward, they ate of the two birthday cakes. A total of 23 helped Joyce and Hadley celebrate their birthdays.
Ginger Harrison had a great weekend. She had a little pre-birthday celebration at lunch Sunday where Diane Hill made her a Butterfinger cake. Fabulous as usual.
Friend Martha Box says she’s still up and at it but way behind. She said this past week went by like a jet airplane — so fast that only the boom was heard! Martha ran into several friends last week. Just walking into Spains or Walmart, she can have a lovely reunion. She ran into Sarah Reeves, a lovely, sweet work friend from way back when. And she saw Jackie Davis at Dr. Roberts’ office.
Martha said Pat and her daughter, Jessica, sure love reading the Tillatoba News column. They said keeping up with Martha’s funny self was their favorite.
Martha said she started working on herself last Monday with a brand new attitude — laughing more, taking better care of herself and having more fun doing it!
Martha said she sure had a wonderful blessed visit at Willow Springs Assembly of God on Sunday. ”Such joy of walking into all those loving hugs of so many cousins, nieces and nephews lifts me high,” she noted. “Reminds me of all those front porch gatherings and holiday reunions of so many cousins and in-laws. Then, the message regarded Jesus, from heaven to conception, birth to growth, and teaching to Calvary. Dave Box topped it off with singing “At Calvary.”

Belated happy birthday to Wannette Franklin, who celebrated March 21. Happy birthday to Sonny Champion on the 28th; to Annie Clair Turner, Dwayne Nail and Lannie Wilbourn, who celebrate on the 29th; and to Frank Weir on the 30th. I pray you all have a wonderful day celebrating!
Recipe of the week: “Easter Rolls”
You will need crescent rolls, melted butter, large marshmallows, cinnamon and sugar. Bake these with your young children or your grandchildren.
1. Give each child a triangle of crescent rolls. This represents the cloth Jesus was wrapped in.
2. Give each child a marshmallow. This represents Jesus. Dip the marshmallow in melted butter. This represents the oils of embalming.
3. Roll the buttered marshmallow in cinnamon and sugar. This represents spices used to anoint the body.
4. Wrap the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll, sealing it inside. This represents the wrapping of Jesus’ body after death.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. The oven represents the tomb. (Pretend it was three days.) Remove and let the rolls cool slightly. Open the “cloth” from Jesus’ body and find that he isn’t there! Jesus has risen!
Thought for the day: Overcome the fears in your life by following the dreams in your heart.
