The water was high and the fish were biting for the Phoenix Bass Fishing League Tournament on Grenada Lake this past weekend, said JR Dukes. Go get them while they are biting, JR.
Congratulations to Kason Croy, who made the Principal’s List at Coffeeville Elementary School. Doris Hoop is one happy grandmother.
Joey and Katelyn McClanahan, and friends Shelby and JK of Jackson, visited with Bobby Joe McClanahan this weekend. Also, Kenny Hardy of Sardis came Saturday and fried fish for everyone. Freddie Wayne and Jojo were there enjoying the fish fry.
Bobby Joe went back to see his doctors on Thursday and got a good report. His leg is healing well and his right foot is also improving. They removed the halo from his right foot. He is still on antibiotics.
Kenny Dunning is back home after visiting with friends in Arizona recently.
Martha Box said, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.” She said, “as busy as I have been, it is nothing as in my superwoman days.” More jobs started than finished. Oh well, that explains her favorite self-motivating phrase: “Keep on keeping on.”
Martha had a great time with Phil, Ginger and Diane. They rode over to Cleveland to enjoy the music. All students did well, but Martha said her favorite voice was Jake’s!
Martha and her sister, Joyce Stevens, had a great visit with Larry Stephens Saturday. Still holding him up in prayers for a healing .
Sunday was a cool damp morning but became a great sunny day, and Martha said she so enjoyed her beautiful ride to and from Pine Grove Baptist Church. She had a great visit there, with the service led, directed and music provided by young adults. There was fine preaching of the word by Eli Black . These young followers of Christ sure invited the presence of the Holy Spirit, and Martha said it brought “worshipping tears flowing from my eyes” and quite a few others!
After Sunday service at Pine Grove, they ate. Martha said there were so many good cooks that she filled up way before tasting several dishes. Martha was invited to come back in two weeks for homecoming. Martha, you know you will be there!
Faye Hartley says all she does is go to work, church and to the ball field to watch her grandson, Rowland, play ball!
David, my better half, went to the ball field down by Paper Mill Road and watched his grandson, Brewer Deck, and my great-grandson, Bradley Holliday, play ball. Brewer plays for a Cleveland team and Bradley plays for a Grenada team. It ended up being a tie game.
Ginger Harrison said they had a good weekend with both boys home from school. There was a very blessed youth day and senior recognition at Pine Grove. Jake Harrison led the music and did a great job singing the special, Anna Ferguson led children’s church and they were blessed with a message from Eli Black. Of course, Ginger said they had a celebration meal afterward.
We had another blessed Sunday with daughter Donna and granddaughter Miranda Procella coming and bringing dinner! Later, Summer Procella came with chicken leg quarters that a friend had cooked and sent. It was all so good! Before Donna left, she made a delicious white cake with a homemade cooked banana icing.
Happy anniversary to Jared and Milissa Sturdivant on the 17th. I hope you two have many more years of happiness.

Thought for the day: “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” This was on the tombstone of my great-grandfather, Robert S Shankle. who was born in 1869 and died in 1928.
