Happy summer! School is officially out and I think we can all finally take a deep breath and relax a bit.
Last Thursday, we were able to hold our annual Scholarship Awards reception at the First Baptist Church of Charleston’s Fellowship Hall. Over 100 family members, community supporters and friends joined us to celebrate the 2023 Meek Foundation scholarship recipients.
Thirty deserving students, all residents of East Tallahatchie County, were awarded scholarships this year.
The Meek Foundation awarded $105,000 in scholarships in 2023, the most we’ve ever been able to provide in one calendar year. Of course, we wouldn’t be able to do so much without the support of our scholarship donors. Leslie M. Westbrook provided funds for four scholarships to attend the University of Mississippi. Thank you, Leslie!
Congratulations to all our scholarship recipients, and we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead!
