Well, I am now the owner of a new pacemaker, so if I get a job, they will have to pay me a little more salary for the extra part! The surgery went well and I appreciate all the prayers, texts and well wishes. That’s why I was so calm during my stay at the hospital. I was ready to get it on and over with. And, too, I was his last surgery for the day and I was starving!
Ginger and Phil Harrison said they had a great weekend! Enjoyed Josh playing with the “In Debt.” It was very nice having both boys home. Ginger said they also enjoyed having mama (Martha Box) in church with them on Sunday.
News is “still just me trying to get on with this show,” said Martha Box. “You know it ain’t easy being me!”
“This crazy weather has me layering up,” explained Martha. “My itsy bitsy bikini first, then denim and corduroy topped with a parka with sunglasses in pocket. You know I have to be ready for this crazy Mississippi weather!”
Martha said she has been running about for errands and chores and landing at the Corner Store for lunch a few times, noting that her britches are getting a “bit tight” because “they sure cook so good.” She enjoyed a wonderful visit with Ginger, Phil, Jake and Josh Saturday night and enjoyed In Dept so much.
Martha enjoyed a “wonderful” church visit with Pine Grove Baptist Church friends and family Sunday. She said sitting with Jake and Josh singing such spirit-filled songs touched her soul. She reported great preaching of salvation and discipleship was done so well by Rev. Sherman Barnett. Martha said she and Joyce landed at the Hut for lunch Sunday, then to Larry Stephens’ house to check on him. She said Bobby Joe is putting up with her doing his foot dressings every evening, adding that great assistant Kenny Dunning makes it easy on patient and nurse!
Deborah McCool says she hopes I am feeling better and said she is still praying. She and Tommy went to Leland Saturday afternoon and visited with Tommy’s two sisters down there. They, of course, picked Alice up and she had a good time, too. She is still having pain from her fractured pelvis but doing physical therapy at home. Deborah said they took their mom’s wheelchair so they could push her around and she could keep off her feet and not hurt as much.
Martha Box said the coffee breaks she takes at the Tillatoba Truck Stop every afternoon with Gene Standridge, Kenny Dunning, Harvey Darby and sometimes coach Robinson and Bennie Box keep her going. Jesus loves you and so do I, is the real news. Always has, always will.
Our visitors Sunday were daughter Donna Garripoli bearing two chocolate pies and granddaughter Miranda Procella with a huge pot of potato soup and bread to go with it. Other visitors were Frankie Holliday and son Bradley and Summer Procella!
Love and sympathy to the Jerry Dean Goff family. Jerry, 77, passed away at the VA Medical Center in Memphis. He was the husband of Emily Carvan Goff of Oakland.
I see a lot of gardeners are getting a jump start on their gardens. I always wanted to do that, but for some reason I never did. I may try to plant some tomatoes after I start feeling better. Probably get someone to do it for us. David is having problems with his back and can’t bend over long at a time.
Happy 26th anniversary to Dave and Donna Box.

Thought for the day: Don’t waste limited time living someone else’s life.
