Charleston Rotary Club recently donated funds to support the Charleston youth baseball program of the Robert Hill Youth Foundation Inc. The donation was used to purchase baseballs, bats, gloves and other needed equipment. Buckley, Sevelda Taylor, Myrtle Houston Jordan and Eula Lang Johnson proudly display their “Golden Diplomas.” Buckley is a 1972 graduate of Coahoma Community College and a 1974 graduate of Alcorn State University. Taylor was graduated from Coahoma in 1966 and from Mississippi Valley State University in 1968, Jordan from Coahoma in 1965 and from Jackson State in 1967, and Johnson from Coahoma in 1973 and from MVSU in 2025. All four received education or related degrees and have a combined total of 173 years of service within the Tallahatchie County school systems: Buckley, 44 years in East Tallahatchie; Taylor, 41 years in East Tallahatchie; Jordan, 38 years in West Tallahatchie; and Johnson, 50 years in East Tallahatchie. Tracey Rosebud, right, who represents District 30 in the Mississippi House of Representatives, was guest speaker during the May 21 noon luncheon meeting of the Charleston Rotary Club. Rosebud stressed the importance of partnerships in the community, as well as the importance of service to the community.
