A ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Eula Johnson Early Learning Playground at Charleston Elementary School honored the longtime former educator, Mrs. Johnson.
The Charleston resident compiled 48 years of teaching experience within the East Tallahatchie School District, where she began teaching in 1975.
After 35 years as a full-time classroom instructor, Johnson retired. She has worked an additional 13 years part-time within the district.
“Her devotion and commitment to early childhood education is unmatched. She is a true pillar in the Charleston community and is loved and respected by many,” noted a story about the Dec. 18, 2023, ribbon-cutting appearing in a May 6 Tallahatchie Early Learning Alliance (TELA) newsletter.
Funds for the renovation to the early learning playground at Charleston Elementary School were made by a generous donor, the TELA article noted.
