OAKLAND — The newly formed Oakland Area Chamber of Commerce will host listening sessions on Saturday, Feb. 19, at the chamber’s office at Oakland Presbyterian Church, 304 Holly St.
Designed to give the community an opportunity to share concerns and ideas for the area as well as to allow the chamber to share ideas and plans with the community, sessions will be held at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Various chamber board members will be available throughout the day for informal meetings.
The chamber held its organizational meeting Jan. 13, adopting bylaws and electing officers.
Linda Ross Aldy was elected president, Alisia Bland vice president and Stephanie Patterson secretary-treasurer.
Aldy is a certified association executive with more than 30 years of management experience and is the owner of Aldy & Co.
Bland works with Child Protection Services and is co-chair of the Oakland Beautification Committee.
Patterson is manager of a loan company and is serving in her first term on the Oakland Board of Aldermen.
Additional board members are Dr. Carolyn Jones of Excellent Word Theological Seminary; Michael Gray, president and owner of Grays Power Supply; Joy Mullen, lay leader with the Oakland United Methodist Church; and Allen Welch, general manager of Ajinomoto Foods
