Holy Week services continuing
Charleston First Methodist Church is continuing to host traditional Holy Week services from through Friday, March 29, beginning at noon each day. Speakers are:
» Thursday, March 28: Rev. Phillip Pharr, pastor of Adams Arbor Church of God of Prophecy
» Friday, March 29: Rev. Charles Duncan, pastor of Charleston Church of God
Following each daily service, lunch will be served in the fellowship hall by the speaker’s church for $3, which goes to the churches’ community fund. Everyone is invited.
Children’s dance class set at CARE
After School Dance will be offered Thursday, March 28, at the Charleston Arts Center. Classes are at 3:30 and 4:30 for children ages 5 to 12. Classes are free. A snack is provided.
Hitts Chapel revival winding down
Hitts Chapel Rebirth church of Webb is continuing a weeklong “Jesus’ Last Words Revival” with services on Thursday, March 28, and Friday, March 29, at 7 nightly.
On Thursday, speaker will be Lorenzo Robinson, pastor of Old Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Sumner.
On Friday, minister Houston Haywood of Winstonville will be the guest speaker.
“Come out and help us lift up the name of Jesus,” said Elder James Hall, host pastor. “We’re looking forward to having a beautiful time in the Lord.”
Truevine Holy Week revival ending
Truevine Missionary Baptist Church family and minister Michael Baker invite everyone to attend the last service of their Holy Week revival on Thursday, March 28, at 7 p.m.
Pastor Norman Starks of New Paradise Missionary Baptist Church of Marks will be the guest speaker.

Teasdale bake sale to benefit facility
On Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Teasdale Ladies Auxiliary and Teasdale Quilters will have a bake sale at the Auxiliary building, just in time for Easter.
All proceeds will go to the upkeep on the Teasdale building fund.

Charleston Mayor’s Charity Ball set
The eighth Charleston Mayor’s Charity Ball will be held Saturday, March 30, beginning at 6 p.m., in Alford’s Gym on the campus of Charleston Middle School.
Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at Charleston City Hall and at the CARE building on Court Square in Charleston.
The Charity Ball, benefiting the American Cancer Society, features a buffet-style meal catered by Joann Hoskins of Tutwiler, a culinary arts instructor at Coahoma Community College, as well as a formal program.
Local band SLASH and Charles “CC” Carter of Petal will entertain.

Mt. Pisgah sets Easter musical, meal
Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church of Enid will present the musical, “There’s Still Power in the Blood,” at 7 a.m. on Easter morning, March 31. The service will encourage all who come. Breakfast fellowship will follow.

Wednesday April 3
Cedric Terry will address Rotarians
Guest speaker for the Wednesday, April 3, meeting of the Charleston Rotary Club will be Cedric Terry of Charleston. Terry will discuss his plans for youth baseball leagues this summer. Lunch begins at noon, with Terry to speak at the conclusion of the meal.
Final day for CARE student entries
Wednesday, April 3, is the final day to submit entries for the Student Art Show and Contest at CARE. Ribbons and cash prizes will be presented to winners in each age category.

Neighborhood Watch meeting set
A Neighborhood Watch meeting for the Charleston community will be held Thursday, April 4, at 6 p.m., in the courtroom at Charles-ton City Hall. The public is invited to attend.
Friday April 5
Recovery center sets grand opening
Charleston Recovery Center, a division of God’s House of Hope, will be having its grand opening on Friday, April 5, at 5 p.m.
“You are invited to come by and see what the Lord has done!” said a spokesperson.

Locopolis sets women’s conference
Locopolis Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4947 Highway 32 Central, Charles-ton, will host their inaugural women’s conference on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The theme is “Encouraging Ourselves and Encouraging Each Other,” and the scripture reference is Psalm 94:18-19.
Guest speakers will include evangelist Loretta Bryant, first lady Dr. Bennie Braggs and Charleston Ward 4 Alderwoman Sandy Frieson Smith. A free lunch will be served and health checks will be available, said Tina Thornton, conference sponsor. Rev. Christopher R. Thornton is the Locopolis pastor.

A paint class with Lyn Hardy will be held Tuesday, April 9, from 10 a.m. until noon, at the Charleston Arts Center, aka CARE building. The cost of the session, $10, covers all supplies. Refreshments will be provided.

ACS Rally for a Cure to be held
Rally for a Cure, the annual community fundraiser of the Tallahatchie County unit of the American Cancer Society, will be held Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the former National Guard armory in Charleston.
The event will feature a variety of activities, including booths, games and entertainment.
Anyone unable to attend may contribute by mailing donations payable to Rally for a Cure, P.O. Box 917, Charleston, MS 38921.
Cross of Christ sets women’s event
The Cross of Christ Love Center in Charleston will be hosting its annual “Women on a Mission” program on Saturday, April 13, at 4 p.m. “Everyone is invited to please come out and fellowship with us!” said spokesperson Contessa L. Cain.

Calvary Food Pantry to distribute
Calvary Food Chapel, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own food pantry).
