The Charleston Magnolia Garden Club took to the streets recently to detail and beautify landmarks, street corners, pots, parks and even a school entrance.
The makeover is part of the club’s efforts to share enjoyment, to brighten and to bring a smile to passersby.
Among the projects were replacing a club welcome sign on Main Street and beautifying the healing garden at the James C. Kennedy Wellness Center and entranceways to the city and Charles-ton Elementary School.
The mission of the garden club is “to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening and to promote floriculture, civic beautification and conservation.”
Recently, the club elected officers for the 2021-22 year. Selected were Carol Bullard, president; Flora Vance, vice president; Marline Carpenter, treasurer; Terrye Roy, recording secretary; and D’Ann Carr, corresponding secretary.
The Charleston Magnolia Garden Club is a member of The Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc. and the National Garden Clubs Inc.
