A defense fog advisory has been issued for a large swath of Mississippi from 11 tonight until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana and most of Mississippi are included in the advisory, including Tallahatchie and adjacent counties.
In Mississippi, impacted counties include Adams, Alcorn, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Claiborne, Clarke, Clay, Coahoma, Copiah, Covington, Forrest, Franklin, Grenada, Hinds, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Itawamba, Jasper, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Kemper, Lafayette, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Leake, Lee, Leflore, Lincoln, Lowndes, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Rankin, Scott, Sharkey, Simpson, Smith, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Union, Warren, Washington, Webster, Winston, Yalobusha and Yazoo.
The National Weather Service said visibility will be one-quarter mile or less in areas of dense fog. Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
If driving, it is advised that motorists slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of them, as well as allowing more time to reach their destination.
