Santa’s elves have already been hard at work this year to prepare for the holidays. These elves are the ladies of the Extended Care Facility Auxiliary. Each monthly meeting of the Auxiliary is focused on ways to enhance the day-to-day activities and especially the holidays for each resident.
These ladies have provided musical guests for entertainment, Halloween candy, Christmas gifts, craft supplies and so much more through their years of support. And, this holiday season is shaping up to again be a busy one for this group of elves.
Two holiday gift baskets have been organized to kick off this festive time of year. Each member of the Auxiliary is selling raffle tickets for $5 each or five tickets for $20. These large holiday baskets are packed with items to please anyone on your Christmas list or the goodies can be divided to fill the stockings of numerous ones on your list.
Also, to be sure that they embraced the holiday season and the excitement of the college football season, one basket has an Ole Miss Rebel door hanger, while the other has a spiffy maroon and white Mississippi State Bulldog door hanger, both of which were designed by local artist Lyn Hardy.
The Auxiliary donated a beautiful Christmas tree to the Extended Care campus for the season. Lights in memory of your loved ones may be purchased to help light the tree for residents to view throughout the remainder of the year. There is also the opportunity to remember your loved ones by adding their name to the memory board the Auxiliary maintains in the resident hallway. Memorials are added throughout the year for $25 for each name.
Whew! As stated earlier, Santa’s elves have already been working hard to prepare for the Christmas season and to bring cheer to every resident of the Extended Care.
All funds raised from these initiatives will be used to continue to support these and other activities throughout the calendar year for residents. For more information or to join the Auxiliary, reach out to a member of the group or call CARE at 662-647-0942.
