Native Charlestonian retires from Navy

Charleston native, Master Chief Petty Officer Jerome Tellis retired recently after 31 years of service to his country in the U.S. Navy.
Tellis, the son of Vernell (Tellis) Wright and Clinton Taylor, both of Charleston, credits his parents with “instilling in me the values of hard work and dedication.”

USS Tallahatchie County veterans reunite one last time in Charleston

Navy veterans from the USS Tallahatchie County held their final ever reunion Saturday, Sept. 14, in Charleston.
A recognition reception was held that afternoon in the Charleston Arts Center and attendees were given a tour of the newly renovated Charleston Arts and Revitalization Effort (CARE) building.
