TUTWILER — The interior of the Dollar General store here sustained significant damage Tuesday in an early-morning fire.
The extent of the damage was not immediately known.
Sumner firefighter Corey Gee said the fire was reported about 4:30 a.m.
In addition to the Tutwiler Fire Department, Sumner, Sharkey-Hampton Lake and West Side Tallahatchie firefighting units responded, he added.
The Tutwiler discount store is located on Highway 49.
Arson was ruled the cause of a September 2022 fire that destroyed the Dollar General store in nearby Webb. No one has been arrested for that crime, and that store, located on Highway 49 East, is in the early stages of reconstruction.
