An Enid man plans to plead guilty to manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of his sister, according to records on file Tuesday at the Tallahatchie County circuit clerk’s office in Charleston.
Joseph Cameron Burke, 45, of 304 Enid-Teasdale Road, has petitioned the court to enter a plea of guilty in the June 22, 2019, death of Lacey M. Burke, 40, who was shot once in the chest on the front porch of the family home at that address.
Burke was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting and was later charged with murder. As a result of plea bargaining, the murder charge would be reduced to manslaughter.
The case has been continued, but court filings as of Tuesday did not cite a date.
