OAKLAND — Students across the area through 8th grade are invited to join in the Kids in the Park Back to School Celebration at the James Riley Swearengen Walking Track and Park in Oakland at 61 Walnut St. on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Games, a scavenger hunt and a lesson in disc golf will highlight the activities.
The first 50 students receive free snow cones, and school supplies will be handed out until supplies run out. Hot dogs and chips will be served for lunch.
Event sponsors include the Oakland Area Chamber of Commerce, Oakland Beautification Committee, Town of Oakland, Oakland Area Lions Club, Cadence Bank-Oakland, Farmacy Marketplace, Mike Robinson, TAB Build and Design, BankFirst-Water Valley, Friends of the Oakland Library, Cossar Disc Golf, Cypress Creek Farming, and US Army Corps of Engineers-Enid Lake.
