A Tallahatchie County grand jury for the 1st Judicial District has returned multiple criminal indictments, while one of those who was charged entered a guilty plea and has been sentenced, according to records on file at the circuit clerk’s office in Charleston.
Troy Kenneth Hyde, 30, of 2596 Pressgrove Road, Cascilla, received seven years after pleading guilty to July 2021 property crimes in the Rosebloom community.
Hyde, who was indicted as a nonviolent habitual offender, was sentenced by Circuit Judge Smith Murphey V to five years for conspiracy and two years for grand larceny, as well as three years of post-release reporting supervision. A third charge of burglary of a dwelling was remanded.
Hyde was ordered to pay restitution of $3,773.33 to the victim, a fine of $500, court costs of $441.50 and a crime victim’s fund fee of $100.
Two others indicted in the same case and on the same three charges as Hyde — Johnny Lynn Melton, 32, of 1325 Carpenter Road, Grenada, and Kaitlyn Crosley Collins, 27, of 1198 Mays Road, Grenada, have entered not guilty pleas and face a March 28 trial date before Circuit Judge Jimmy McClure.
In other cases:
• Tyrone Murry, 42, of 10 Fir St., Charleston, was indicted on a charge of sale of cocaine, less than 2 grams, in an October 2020 case. Murry, waived arraignment, entered a plea of not guilty and is set to appear April 4 before Murphey.
• Orenthal Lamar Brooks, 48, of 233 Depot St., Charleston, was indicted on a charge of sale of cocaine, less than 2 grams, in an October 2020 case. He waived arraignment, entered a plea of not guilty and faces a March 28 trial date before McClure.
• Brian Michael Rideout, 48, of 2916 Murphreesboro Road, Scobey, was indicted on a charge of sale of methamphetamine, more than 2 grams but less than 10 grams, in an October 2020 case. Rideout waived arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty. His case is set for trial March 28 before McClure.
• Percy Lee O’Bannon, 29, of Charleston, was indicted on a charge of fondling of a child under the age of 16 years in connection with an August 2021 case. O’Bannon waived arraignment, entered a not guilty plea and is set to appear April 4 before Murphey.
• Demetrius Aundrate Means, 44, of 18 Fir St., Charleston, was indicted as an habitual offender on a charge of sale of cocaine, less than 2 grams, in an October 2020 case. After waiving arraignment and entering a plea of not guilty, Means’ case is set for trial before McClure on March 28.
