BATESVILLE — North Delta School Lady Green Waves basketball standout Shelby Grace Boone of Charleston was honored last week after recently scoring her 1,000th career point.
Boone, the daughter of Peyton Brown and Michael Boone, the sister of Autumn Boone and the granddaughter of Robert and Sharon Salmon, reached the 1,000-point plateau while playing at Marshall Academy Jan. 22.
She was honored at home two games later, on Friday, Jan. 28, during senior night at the Batesville school.
After scoring her first points of that contest, Lady Green Waves coach Harrison Nickle interrupted the game briefly to present Boone with a personalized basketball to celebrate the feat.
A senior, she plays point guard and is captain of the girls varsity basketball team.
Boone was a member of North Delta’s 2020 Midsouth Association of Independent Schools’ (MAIS) Class 4A state championship squad.
She was honored by being named to the All-State team during her junior year.
Boone has been chosen for MAIS Class 4A All-Conference and All-Tournament teams.
She has been playing organized basketball for over 10 years, starting with Upward Sports when she was about 6.
