It was a disappointing Friday night for fans of Tallahatchie County's varsity football teams, as both lost games they were hosting.
The Charleston High School Tigers dropped a 24-22 decision to North Pontotoc in Tiger Stadium. After opening a 22-8 lead with 3:40 in the third quarter, the Tigers saw North Pontotoc chip away, close the gap and, finally, take the lead with 1:57 remaining in the game on a safety that resulted from a bad snap on a punt attempt from the CHS end zone.
The West Tallahatchie High School Choctaws lost 14-8 in overtime to O'Bannon at Choctaw Stadium in Webb. The two teams were tied 8-8 at both halftime and the end of regulation. The Choctaws had a pick-6 of about 60 yards nullified in the second half on a block in the back call.
The Tigers now stand at 1-1 while getting ready to host Leflore County on Nov. 9.
At 0-2, the Choctaws are still seeking their first win of the season and will try to get it Nov. 9 at Coahoma County.
Game stories with photos and coaches' comments will be posted later.
