Members of the board of the planned Charleston Recovery Center gathered recently to take a look at the construction site on Highway 32, about two miles east of Charleston.
Some dirt work has been done to prepare the property, situated just west of the Tallahatchie County Fairgrounds.
The center, which may open later this year, aims to assist individuals dealing with substance abuse and addiction, as well as behavioral and mental health conditions.
According to the center's website, that assistance will include holistic treatment strategies that address physical, emotional, spiritual and social growth.
Pastor Ken Watson, of Charleston Church of God, said the 5,000-square-foot facility will house up to 20 men while they are undergoing residential treatment and recovery for a period of up to 10 months.
The website lists the various phases of the center’s proposed processes.
Additional information will be circulated as construction progresses.
