Severe thunderstorm winds blew through Tallahatchie County about mid-morning Wednesday, felling or uprooting numerous trees.
The county was under several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued by the National Weather Service.
One such warning indicated that at 10:24 a.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Webb, 12 miles southwest of Charleston, moving east at 45 mph, packing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
There were no immediate reports of structural damage in Tallahatchie County.
A large tree that was uprooted in the front yard of a residence at 15491 Mississippi Highway 32 Central near Strider narrowly missed hitting the house.
Storm damage was reported across much of North and Central Mississippi, largely in the form of downed trees. Mississippi Highway Patrol communications indicated that numerous trees fell across roads, highways and even Interstate 55.
Large portions of Mississippi were under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of Wednesday.
