December unemployment in Tallahatchie County fell to 3.6%, a drop of three-tenths of 1% from November’s 3.9%, the Mississippi Department of Employment Security has announced.
The MDES, which compiles the state’s employment data, noted that 160 members of the county’s 4,440-person labor force were unemployed in December while 4,280 were working.
In November, 170 of 4,390 labor force members were jobless while 4,220 were employed.
The county’s October jobless rate was four-tenths of 1% lower than the 4.0% figure in December 2021, when 190 of 4,640 available laborers age 16 and older did not find work.
Jefferson County had the state’s highest December jobless rate of 11.7%, while Lafayette’s had Mississippi’s lowest unemployment, 2.4%.
