Charleston’s Future Needs All of Us
Working Groups are helping turn community priorities into a 2027 action plan.
Charleston Thrives brings Charleston residents together to build a thriving, connected community with opportunities for all. SonEdna Foundation supports this community-led effort.
Right now, residents serving in five Working Groups are helping turn priorities identified by Charleston into an action plan for 2027. The plan, expected to be shared in January, will outline practical steps toward the future our community envisions.
Each Working Group brings a different part of Charleston’s future into focus:
• Culture & Arts celebrates local talent, traditions and opportunities to connect.
• Economic Opportunity explores support for local businesses, jobs and partnerships.
• Education looks at learning resources and opportunities for all ages.
• Government & Civic Engagement focuses on communication, trust and residents’ voices.
• Health & Well-Being explores access to health resources, healthy living and community support.
These areas are connected. Learning opportunities can support economic growth. Arts and community gatherings can strengthen connections. The groups are finding more connections like these, opening opportunities to share strengths, combine efforts and make greater progress for Charleston.
The Working Groups have developed three-year goals and 2027 objectives. Now they are mapping specific actions, identifying who can help, exploring partnerships and considering the resources and timing needed to move forward.
Community members in the Working Groups will continue refining the action plan through December. In January 2027, the plan will be introduced to the broader Charleston community, with opportunities for more residents, businesses and organizations to get involved.
