Where are you seeing progress in Charleston right now?
A new community conversation begins.
Across Charleston, people are beginning to connect around something powerful: the momentum already taking shape across the community.
That spirit is at the heart of Charleston Thrives, a community-led effort supported by SonEdna Foundation focused on helping residents recognize progress already happening and carry it forward together.
Over the past several months, educators, health care leaders, churches, artists, business owners, volunteers, local leaders and residents have been meeting regularly around five focus areas connected to Charleston’s future.
And one thing has become increasingly clear: people across Charleston care deeply about this community and want to help strengthen it together.
As Mayor Sedrick Smith shared, “By coming together around what is working, we can continue to build momentum and expand opportunity for everyone.”
That spirit is exactly what this weekly column hopes to continue.
Each Thursday, this space will highlight stories of progress, partnerships, conversations and community momentum taking shape across Charleston.
Some stories may focus on visible projects. Others may simply highlight people making a difference every day through service, creativity, leadership, collaboration and care.
Because progress deserves visibility, too.
And the more people recognize what is working, the more momentum can continue to grow.
This column also belongs to the community.
If you see progress happening across Charleston, we hope you will share it with me and with each other.
