SUMNER — Quardero M. Gipson was found guilty Thursday evening (Nov. 3) of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in the July 2020 slaying of Adrian Wilchie.

Mother exonerated in 2016 death of infant recalls ordeal, lingering fears

A woman charged with killing her infant daughter has been exonerated five years after the baby’s death.
Circuit Judge Smith Murphey last week signed an order to dismiss the charge of capital murder on which Jocelyn Camille McLean was scheduled to stand trial in Tallahatchie County Circuit Court this month.

New state flag raised as new day dawns over Charleston

As Friday dawned over Charleston, a new state flag was raised on the grounds of the Tallahatchie County Courthouse.
There was no ceremony, but the occasion was historic nonetheless. It marked the first time in 127 years that a newly styled Mississippi state flag had been flown there.
