Charleston Police Chief Justin Gammage on Thursday announced that Charleston street project contractor Lehman-Roberts has informed the city that the entire Court Square will be off limits for parking and through traffic on Friday, Oct. 18.
Gammage said the contractor plans to mill up the asphalt encircling the square during this one day.
Businesses on the square will be open as usual, but no parking will be allowed in front of the businesses, around the courthouse or anywhere on the Court Square.
Traffic will be routed around the square. For guidance, watch for signs, orange cones and flaggers wearing yellow vests.
"I know it's an inconvenience today, but it will make Charleston better tomorrow," Gammage said, while urging motorists to drive carefully.
