Criminal indictments from recent Tallahatchie County grand jury sessions involve cases of alleged aggravated assault, kidnapping, rape and fraud, among other charges, according to records on file Tuesday at the circuit clerk’s office in Charleston.
The documents reflect indictments returned by grand jury members impaneled in the 1st Judicial District at Charleston and the 2nd Judicial District at Sumner.
The records show:
• Quinton Warren Melton, 49, of 241 Brooklyn Rd., Webb, was indicted for 10 counts of fondling, for 10 separate instances in 2013, 2014 and 2015 of alleged sexually-oriented physical acts involving five children under the age of 16 years.
• Marcus Kennedy, 28, of First Street, Apt. 1, Webb, was indicted in two separate cases for forcible rape in connection with reported incidents dating to December 2014 and May 2015.
• John T. Dickson, 20, of 72 Dickson Dr., Tippo, was indicted for two counts of credit card fraud in the amounts of $7,211.98 and $435.96 from March 2015.
• Darien Dewayne Gardner, 21, of 409 West St., Tutwiler, was named in a four-count indictment for conspiracy to commit home invasion, burglary, aggravated assault and kidnapping stemming from a July 28, 2015, incident in which a house was burglarized and its male occupant was shot with a Ruger P89.
• Jeremy Lott, 25, of 314 Enid-Teasdale Rd., Enid, was indicted for felon with a firearm, stemming from a Dec. 1, 2015, case.
• Calvin Brewer, 25, address unavailable, was named in a two-count indictment for felon with firearm and shooting into an occupied dwelling, based on an Oct. 28, 2015, incident in which he allegedly discharged a 9mm pistol into a house.
• Tony Lasha Goliday, 36, of 1252 Wilson Chapel Rd., Pontotoc, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, more than 30 grams but less than 250 grams, for a June 26, 2015, charge.
In other court news:
• Clark Wall, 33, of 107 N. Vine St., Charleston, pleaded guilty to a charge of bad check. Circuit Judge Gerald Chatham sentenced him on March 15 through an order of non-adjudication, meaning that because he had never been convicted of a felony, Wall will be allowed to pay restitution, a fine and other fees totaling $12,132, at the rate of $500 per month beginning April 1, and will have his record expunged once he successfully fulfills all terms of the court-ordered arrangement. The checks in question were written on the account of C&M Irrigation LLC of Charleston and were signed by Wall. Two other counts of bad check were remanded.
