TUTWILER — A local senior citizens group is extending an invitation to its monthly meetings at the Tutwiler Community Education Center.
Sheriff Jimmy Fly recently expressed his desire to help grow the membership of the local Triad, which is sponsored by the Tallahatchie County Sheriff’s Office.
One senior defined Triad as “The Right Information and Direction” for seniors.
Fly said that is exactly what Triad is about.
The group meets at the center at 10 a.m. on the second Wednesday each month, except August and September. The gatherings last about two hours and feature a devotional, special speaker and free lunch, said Fly.
“All of our programs are geared toward promoting safety for senior citizens and connecting seniors with law enforcement,” he added.
For instance, Fly said the Oct. 9 meeting will highlight fire safety and prevention.
The Nov. 13 gathering will bring local law enforcement officers together for a discussion of timely topics.
Fly said the James C. Kennedy Wellness Center has presented nutrition advice and exercise tips at past Triad meetings.
Membership in Triad is free, and anyone in Tallahatchie County who is 50 years of age or older may participate.
A local SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) council plans and implements programs and activities to achieve the objectives of the Triad.
