The party nominees for three Tallahatchie County offices, two statewide posts and four state district seats will be decided during an Aug. 27 primary runoff election.
Runoffs will be held in both the Democratic and Republican primaries, and all Tallahatchie County precincts will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Circuit clerk’s offices in Charleston and Sumner will open from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, Aug. 17 and Aug. 24, for absentee balloting.
The runoff races to appear on ballots in Tallahatchie County are:
DEMOCRATIC RUNOFFS
State House District 10: Amanda Campbell and Nolan Webb
State Senate District 13: John Marshall Alexander and Sarita M. Simmons
Tallahatchie County coroner: Anthony “Tony” Hawkins and incumbent Ginger Smith Meriwether
Supervisor, District 3: Incumbent Larry Cole and Philip Ross
Constable, District 1: Frank Chambers III and Jimmy N. Manues (D)
REPUBLICAN RUNOFFS
Governor: Tate Reeves and Bill Waller Jr.
Attorney General: Lynn Fitch and Andy Taggart
Northern District Transportation Commissioner: John Caldwell and Geoffrey O. Yoste
State House District 10: Kelly Morris and Brady Williamson
In one previously unreported race that impacted Tallahatchie County, incumbent District 30 state Rep. Tracey T. Rosebud of Tutwiler compiled 2,330 votes (61.24 percent) to defeat Robert Earl Huddleston, the former holder of that office, in the Aug. 6 Democratic Primary. Huddleston, of Sumner, garnered 1,475 votes (38.76 percent) in an unsuccessful bid for a comeback.
