All of Saturday's 10th annual Birdia Keglar Legacy celebration activities that had been planned to start about noon at the Robert Hill Sports Complex on the Charleston Industrial Park, have been moved to the Charleston Elementary School gymnasium (the "Old Gym") on Chestnut Street.
However, organizer Gwen Dailey said the roughly one-hour commemorative opening program scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday on the west side of Charleston Court Square will remain unchanged, weather permitting. Otherwise, it, too, will be held at the Old Gym.
Definitely moved to the Old Gym, Dailey stressed, are the post-opening entertainment, games, speeches by political candidates, and voter education and voter registration opportunities that will begin about noon. The traditional site on the city industrial park is likely to be too wet and/or muddy, even if it is not raining at the time, she said.
On Sunday, the Birdia Keglar Legacy Scholarship and Awards Program still will be held at 2:30 p.m. at New Town Missionary Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. A reception will follow in the church dining hall.
