The 2015 season of the Sumner Farmers Market begins tonight (Thursday, June 4), when the market opens for the first time this year.
The market operates on the Sumner Court Square, each Thursday, from 4-6 p.m.
Market Manager Lydia Dunavent said the first few weeks of the market primarily will feature the handiwork of local arts and crafts vendors, until the produce of local gardeners ripens.
"We will start off with artists — locals who have used their skills and talents to make dresses, crosses, birdhouses, etc.," Dunavent noted.
She said there will be no cost for vendors.
"We will have a donation jar instead of charging the vendors a fee, and all proceeds will go to buying marching band instruments for the West Tallahatchie High School Band," Dunavent explained.

The Charleston Farmers Market will open for the first time this year on Saturday, June 6, from 8 a.m. until noon, or until all goods are sold.
The Charleston market will set up in a new location — on the shaded west side of the city's Court Square, and will operate each Saturday morning.
"We encourage all civic groups, schools, churches, farmers and community members to participate," said Charleston Farmers Market Manager Frances Crawford.
Vendor spaces are $5 each and are available to anyone wishing to sell homegrown fruits and vegetables, flowers, artisan items, baked goods, canned goods, honey and the like.
