Jonathan D. “Foxx” Taylor Sr. withdrew Tuesday (May 21) from the District 3 supervisor race in Tallahatchie County.
In his brief handwritten note addressed to the county’s Democratic Executive Committee, Taylor, 40, of 508 S. Franklin St., Charleston, offered no explanation for pulling out.
Taylor had qualified for the post as a Democrat on Feb. 7.
His withdrawal leaves five candidates in the field for the seat on the Tallahatchie County Board of Supervisors, including incumbent Democrat Larry Cole; Democrats Roger Allbritton, Pate Brown III and Philip Ross; and Republican Justin M. Booth.
The primary election is Aug. 6. A runoff, if necessary, will be Aug. 27. The general election is Nov. 5.
