The town of Tutwiler has been awarded a grant of $16,200 through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, Congressman Bennie Thompson has announced.
The investment, awarded through Rural Development’s Communities and Facilities Program, will enable the town to purchase a truck for debris removal, Thompson noted.
Among other area grants awarded were:
» Coahoma County Board of Supervisors, $50,000 for new law enforcement vehicles
» Grenada County Board of Supervisors, $50,000 for purchase of law enforcement vehicles in District 3; $50,000 for a dump truck for District 3; $50,000 for a compact track loader for District 3; and $50,000 to assist with purchasing a track-type tractor
» City of Water Valley, $30,500, to assist the city in purchasing a warning siren
