"Rally for a Cure," the largest annual fundraiser for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, will be held this Saturday, June 13, at the former National Guard armory on South Cossar in Charleston.
A prelude to the actual Rally will be a walkathon set to begin at 9 a.m. at the Shade Street Walking Trail. Contact Charleston Mayor Sedrick Smith Sr. at 662-647-4171, Mandy Moore at 662-647-4163 or Brenda Walton-Willis at 662-752-9267 to learn more about the walkathon.
The Rally will get underway at 10 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude about 1 p.m.
Local ACS board president Walton-Willis said this year's Rally theme is "Spread the Hope. Find the Cure."
There will be live and silent auctions, a sweet shop featuring home-baked delicacies from local kitchens, cake walks, door prizes and more.
"Cancer has invaded so many families, so please come out and support the fight for a cure," said Walton-Willis, who noted that donations are accepted by mail to Rally for a Cure, P.O. Box 971, Charleston, MS 38921.
