Rosebloom Recreational Park celebrated Independence Day with a community event on Saturday, July 5.
The day included vendor booths, inflatable children's activities, plenty of food offerings and concessions, the recognition of U.S. military veterans, music and singing and a fireworks show.
The Christian group, The Griffith Family, was booked to perform but was a late cancellation due to an outbreak of COVID in the household that forced the family to quarantine.
Stepping in to fill the entertainment void were Carson Stanford and Eli Carter.
Andrea Davis, an organizer of the event, expressed appreciation to everyone who assisted.
She said Melinda Wells of Mississippi HomeCare provided each veteran who came forward to be recognized during the event with a gift bag.
A large American flag on a boom truck was provided by Caldwell Tree Service, Davis noted, and the inflatable was provided by Michelle and Quint Rideout.
"Thanks to so many volunteers and sponsors without whom we could not put on this free celebration," Davis noted. "Next year's event is already in the planning stage so that our country's 250th will be much bigger."
