Strider varsity team loses seventh of season

MARVELL, Ark. — The Strider varsity Rams fell 50-0 to the Marvell Academy Eagles here Friday night.

Strider dropped to 0-7 on the season. Marvell, ranked fourth in Academy 8-Man football, improved to 6-0.

This Friday, the Rams will host the 2-4 Tensas Academy Chiefs of St. Joseph, La., during homecoming at Strider.

Junior high Rams end season at 4-1

STRIDER — The Strider Academy junior high Rams put the finishing touches on their best season since 2009 last Thursday night with a 42-6 defeat of the visiting Marvell Academy Eagles. The Rams finished with a 4-1 record.

First-year head coach Kelvin Newton praised the team.

West Tally shuts out Coahoma County

CLARKSDALE — The West Tallahatchie High School Choctaws walloped the Coahoma County Red Panthers 32-0 Friday night.

For a second straight week, the Chocs were visitors at a homecoming bash and they dealt shutouts in both (after beating Byers 42-0 Sept. 25).

West Tally improved to 5-2 and Coahoma Co. fell to 2-5.

Charleston opens region with 29-14 victory

The Charleston High School Tigers began Region 2-3A play with a 29-14 win over the visiting Water Valley Blue Devils Friday night.

Charleston improved to 5-2 while Water Valley fell to 2-5.
