The West Tallahatchie girls' and boys' basketball teams will see quarterfinals action Friday in the Mississippi High School Activities Association C Spire State Basketball Tournament in Jackson.
The 28-4 Lady Choctaws will duel the 24-8 Newton Lady Tigers in a 10:30 a.m. contest at Jackson State University.
The 31-0 Choctaws will play the 18-12 Prentiss Bulldogs at noon in the Mississippi Coliseum.
In the semifinals on Tuesday, March 8, at 9 a.m., in the Coliseum, the winner of the West Tally/Newton girls' contest faces the victor of Friday's game between the 31-5 Ingomar Falcons and the 14-10 Bassfield Yellowjackets.
On the boys' side next Tuesday at 4, also in the Coliseum, the winner of the West Tally/Prentiss boys' tilt faces the victor of Friday's game between the 26-4 Baldwyn Bearcats and the 21-8 Heidelberg Oilers.
Semifinals winners advance to the state championship games at the Coliseum.
The 2A girls' title match will be Friday, March 11, starting at 1 p.m., while the 2A boys' final will follow that day at 2:30.
