WEBB — The West Tallahatchie Choctaws dropped a 22-0 decision to the Simmons Blue Devils during the regular-season home finale at Choctaw Stadium Friday night, Nov. 1.
With the win, Simmons improved to 5-5 while West Tally dropped to 5-6.
Choctaws head coach Lorenzo Pimpton said it seemed Simmons wanted the win more than his guys.
“We had missed assignments, penalties and a few turnovers that hurt us, plus they got us on some big plays,” noted Pimpton. “Our defense didn’t play like they had been playing. To tell you the truth, we just didn’t show up.”
Simmons scored a pair of touchdowns on runs late in the first and second quarters, then added another TD with about 4 minutes to go in the game.
Pimpton said his team had scoring opportunities but did not capitalize.
Ja’quarius McGee had a 30-yard, third-quarter touchdown negated by a holding penalty, he explained.

Kevonte Thomas notched five individual stops and two assists. Madden recovered one fumble.

This Friday, the Chocs travel to Yalobusha County to take on fellow Region 3-1A foe, the 3-7 Coffeeville Pirates, and the stakes could not be higher at this point in the year.
“We have to beat Coffeeville to get in the playoffs,” said Pimpton, noting that his team would earn the fourth and final seed if they win.
It will be senior night in Coffeeville, but Pimpton said he hopes his guys “will rise to the occasion,” adding, “Maybe these last couple of losses will wake us up.”
