On National Signing Day Feb. 5, Charleston High School offensive lineman/defensive tackle Brandon Smith signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for the William Penn University Statesmen in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
As a senior at CHS, Smith recorded 21 total tackles, including 18 solos. He notched four sacks and one fumble recovery. The 6-2, 250-pound Smith was a postseason Mississippi Association of Coaches first-team All-State selection at the offensive lineman position.
