The West Tallahatchie High School Choctaws pose with the Region 2-2A championship trophy after winning last week’s region tournament at J.Z. George in North Carrollton. The Chocs whipped J.Z. George 103-62 in a semifinals match and then beat Coahoma County 89-76 for the regional title.
On Tuesday night, Feb. 23, in the opener of the Class 2A state playoffs, the WT boys played host to Potts Camp and won 104-34. Okolona defeated Riverside 84-70 Tuesday night.
Okolona (24-6), the team that edged the Chocs in last year’s 2A state semifinals game in Jackson, now travels to Webb Saturday, Feb. 27, to face West Tally (30-0) in a 7 p.m. second-round game.
