The West Tallahatchie High School Lady Choctaws pose with the Region 2-2A championship trophy after winning last week’s region tournament at J.Z. George in North Carrollton. The Lady Chocs defeated Coahoma Aggie 59-20 in a semifinals match and then beat Coahoma County 59-42 for the title. On Monday night, in the opener of the Class 2A state playoffs, the WT girls defeated Walnut 59-29, improving to 27-4 on the season. In a second-round playoff Friday, the Lady Choctaws will host the 21-9 East Webster Lady Wolverines — the team that edged them 68-64 in last year’s 2A state championship game.
