A Grenada County man wanted in connection with the Thursday night shooting death of a Holcomb resident was arrested Friday in Webb.
Tallahatchie County lawmen took Antonio N. Goldston, 42, into custody at 12:31 p.m. outside the Oak Avenue home of his brother, said Tallahatchie County Sheriff Jimmy Fly.
He was sought on Grenada County charges of murder, kidnapping and the taking of a motor vehicle, Fly said.
Goldston was apprehended little more than an hour after Grenada County investigators had notified the Tallahatchie County Sheriff's Office about the man's possible whereabouts, the sheriff explained.
Responding deputies found Goldston standing with relatives alongside a 2001 Mercury Marquis that was registered to him, Fly added.
He did not attempt to flee and "he surrendered without any incident," the sheriff said.
Goldston "didn't have a weapon on him" at the time of his arrest, Fly noted.
Tallahatchie County deputies transported the suspect from Webb to the Tallahatchie County Jail in Charleston, where he was picked up by Grenada County officials shortly after 1 p.m., the sheriff stated.
Goldston is a former Tallahatchie County resident of the Flautt Road area near Webb, noted Fly, who said the man's driver's license still bears that local address.
Fly, who noted he was not present when Goldston was arrested, said he appreciated his deputies' "fast response in working with Grenada County, and Grenada County being able to work with us and get this suspect in custody without any type of incident."
