Learn to play Mahjong at CARE
On Friday, Feb. 28, at 5:30 p.m., instructor Emily Lewis will teach how to play Mahjong, a tile-based game developed in the 19th century in China. The Silver Star Missionary Baptist Church, located at 208 Main St. in Rome, will hold its spring revival on Wednesday, March 12, and Thursday, March 13, with services starting at 7 p.m. each day.
On March 12, the speaker will be Dr. Kelly Westbrook of New Directional Church in Minter City.
On March 13, the speaker will be Rev. Winfred Hill, pastor of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Glendora.

Mt. Moriah First District usher program will be held Sunday, March 16, at the district building near Coffeeville. All are asked to come and support the usher ministry. Rev. Calvary Food Pantry to distribute
Calvary Food Chapel, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own pantry). Food pantry distribution day is now the next-to-last Saturday of each month.

Women’s conference set at church
Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, located at County Road 211, Oakland, will host their annual women’s conference on Saturday, March 22, beginning at 10 a.m. The theme is “Giving into Peer Pressure” and “Dealing with Alzheimer’s.” Minister Inez Brown will be keynote speaker. Berryhill inducted into honor society
Tayler Michon Berryhill of Webb has been inducted into Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
To be eligible for membership in the Northeast Iota Zeta chapter, a student must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework with a cumulative 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be a full-time student at the college in Booneville.
Earn high school diploma in 22 weeks
The Mississippi Youth ChalleNGe Academy, located at Camp Shelby, is the premier alternative education program for 16- to 18-year-old youth who are struggling in school or no longer attending.
With a focus on job training, social skills and self-discipline, ChalleNGe is a nonprofit high school diploma-producing academy designed specifically to meet the needs of high school dropouts and at-risk youth. It is a part of the Mississippi National Guard Youth Challenge Program.
Participants may earn their high school diploma in just 22 weeks. Tuition, room and board are absolutely free.
ChalleNGe also offers college classes through a local university. Both male and female applicants are accepted.

Nursing honor guard service free
Northwest Mississippi Honor Guard recognizes men and women who have dedicated their professional lives to nursing, and to pay respects to fellow nurses (retired or active NP, RN or LPN) at the end of their life’s journey, for the devotion and commitment they demonstrated in caring for others.
