Sumner Rotary spaghetti supper set
Sumner Rotary Club’s annual spaghetti supper, cake walk and bingo event will be held on Thursday, April 24, starting at 6 p.m., at Da Spot, located at 214 S. Cherokee St. in Webb. The cost is $10 per plate for adults and children 12 and over, and $5 per plate for children under the age of 12. All are invited.
St. John will conduct spring revival
St. John Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1100 Highway 32 W., Drew, began spring revival services Wednesday, April 23, and continues through Friday, April 25, at 7 nightly.

Art show reception set at CARE
CARE’s Student Art Show reception will be held on Friday, April 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Charleston Arts Center (CARE building). Ribbons and prize money will be awarded to winning entries.

Club seeks members, volunteers
Join the West Side Alumni Booster Club on Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m. to pick up trash on the campuses of R.H. Bearden Elementary School and West Tallahatchie High School. Members and volunteers will meet first at Bearden and then travel to West Tallahatchie for trash pickup at 11. The event will end at noon. “Come join us,” said a spokesperson.
Teasdale VFD sets annual fundraiser
Teasdale Volunteer Fire Department will conduct their annual fundraiser on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Smoked chicken plates, which include two smoked chicken quarters, beans, slaw, bread and a drink, are still $12.
Chances also will be sold for a Bayou Classic fryer. Tickets are $5 each, or three for $10.
Advance tickets are available from Teasdale firefighters, or pay on the day of the event.

National Day of Prayer events set
The 2025 National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 1, will be observed during a pair of noontime events in Tallahatchie County.
In Charleston, Rev. Joe May, pastor, will lead a program around the flagpole of Charleston First Baptist Church.
In Sumner, Rev. Willie Williams and others will lead a 30-minute program outside the Tallahatchie County Courthouse in Sumner.
Everyone is invited to gather as one to pray for the community, as well as for local, state, national and world leaders.
The theme for this year’s 74th annual National Day of Prayer is “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled,” inspired by Romans 15:13, which states, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Camp Lakeside Day scheduled
The annual Camp Lakeside Day fundraising event will be held on Saturday, May 3, beginning at noon. The public is invited to enjoy a day of fun, food and fellowship.
“Bring your friends and family for an amazing day!” noted a publicist.
Catfish plates will be available for purchase, there will be inspiring gospel singing, and bounce houses will offer fun for the children who attend. A silent auction will be held from 12-4 p.m. and a cake auction begins at 4. A concession stand will be open.
Camp Lakeside is located at 1907 Lakeside Dr., Scobey.
Yalo-Ribbon Festival set in Oakland
The fourth annual Yalo-Ribbon Festival will be held Saturday, May 3, from 3-7 p.m., in downtown Oakland.
Arts and crafts, live music, food trucks and the Kids Zone featuring mechanical bull-riding and games are highlights of the event. The cake walk also returns, and lucky winners will receive a cake donated by the churches and bakers in Oakland.
Live music begins at 4 p.m., and a new act takes the stage at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Kentucky Derby watch party slated
Join CARE on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 4 p.m., for a full-filled afternoon of mint juleps, peach tea, barbecue and watching the Kentucky Derby at the home of Patti and Ken Gregory in Charleston. Tickets can be purchased at CARE or in numerous local businesses in Charleston for $25.

Calvary Food Chapel, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own pantry). Food pantry distribution day is now the next-to-last Saturday of each month.
