Ladies paint night on tap at CAC
The Charleston Arts Center (CARE building) will host a ladies paint night class on Thursday, Nov. 20, starting at 5:30 p.m. The event offers a fun-filled evening for ladies to learn painting techniques while enjoying food and beverages. Early deadline set for newspaper
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, all news, advertisements and any other materials intended for publication in the Nov. 27 edition of The Sun-Sentinel must be submitted to the newspaper by noon this Friday, Nov. 21.
The Nov. 27 edition will be available on newsstands Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 25, and local mail subscribers should receive the newspaper on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Garden club annual fall luncheon set
The Charleston Magnolia Garden Club’s annual fall luncheon fundraiser will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at the Charleston First Presbyterian Church Family Life Center. ACS fall bake sale set near NAPA
The Tallahatchie County unit of the American Cancer Society will conduct its annual fall bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon, in front of the NAPA auto parts store in Charleston.
“Please come out and support this great event. The proceeds go toward assisting people in our county with cancer and to the American Cancer Society for research to find a cure for cancer,” noted local ACS spokesperson Brenda Walton-Willis. “Every family has been touched by this deadly disease. Even if you don’t eat sweets, come out and give a donation.”
Calvary Food Pantry to distribute
Calvary Food Pantry, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own food pantry). Food pantry distribution day is the next-to-last Saturday of each month.
Faith Food Pantry to distribute
Faith Food Pantry, located at 30028 Highway 32, Charleston, will distribute food from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22. Food pantry distribution day is usually the next-to-last Saturday of each month.

Hitt Chapel pastor, church events set
Hitt Chapel in Webb will celebrate the anniversaries of both the pastor, Rev. J.E. Hall, and the church on Sunday, Nov. 23, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
There will be two speakers. First will be Johnnie Holmes, pastor of Christ First Church in Webb, followed by Jerry Jones, pastor of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
“Come out and help us celebrate and lift up Jesus’ name,” said publicist Deborah Hall.

Charleston Rotary will not gather
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Charleston Rotary Club will not meet on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Regular midweek noontime meetings will resume in December.
Thursday November 27
No Thanksgiving garbage service
Waste Management will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 27, so there will be no garbage collection in Charleston on that day. Thursday customers will be collected on Friday, and Friday customers will be collected on Saturday.
Sunday November 30
Music of Love program scheduled
A musical program will be held Sunday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m., at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church at Claremont-Jonestown Road, featuring Mighty Imperials, Five Stars, Voices of Faith, Archie Bell, Pastor Boone, Martellis Cowsett and more. All are invited.
Prizes will be given away. There will be $1 tickets, and you do not have to be present to win.

The CARE Holiday Market will be held on two days — Wednesday, Dec. 3, and Thursday, Dec. 4. Local artists and crafters will sell their items in the CARE gallery in Charleston. Shop local and support the artists from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.
TGH ECF Auxiliary will gather
The TGH Extended Care Facility Auxiliary will meet at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the CARE Arts Center in Charleston. Interested members of the community are welcome.
Library board meets in Charleston
The Tallahatchie County Library Board of Trustees will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 4:30 p.m., at the Charleston Library. The public is invited to attend.

Cookies with Santa slated at CARE
On Friday, Dec. 5, Santa will park his sleigh on the roof of the CARE gallery in Charleston and listen as your child shares their Christmas list with him during CARE’s annual “Cookies with Santa” event.
Cookies, games, crafts and a few surprises await your family on this fun night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. There is no charge to attend. Photos may be taken for $10.

The Charleston community Christmas celebration will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m., at Charleston First Methodist Church.

Webb Christmas benefit planned
The third annual Christmas “Give Back for Families in Need” will be held on Main Street in Webb Saturday, Dec. 20, from 12-2 p.m.
The event is part community celebration and part fundraiser “to bless six families, which includes 16 children,” noted sponsor DS4.
Gospel singing, games and other activities are scheduled.
