Food pantries change pickup day
Food pantries at Calvary Chapel, Parchman, and Faith Baptist Church, Charleston, have changed their schedules. The change will be almost impossible to notice, but it is vital to keep the pantries open.
Pantries will now be held on the next-to-last Saturday of each month. (For many years, pantries have been scheduled for the third Saturday.) Because of the new schedule for food deliveries to the pantries, the change is necessary.
Mississippi Food Network has changed its delivery schedule, which delays the arrival of food for distribution until after the third Saturday. In February, for example, no food will be delivered to the two food pantries until four days after the third Saturday.
In most months, the next-to-last Saturday is the third Saturday. A pantry date will still be offered before Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Public announcements of food pantry dates and times will continue in The Sun-Sentinel and on Facebook.
